Donations to our programs

stretchsmile500.jpg In addition to supporting survivors by buying their products, we need donations to run our nonprofit programs. Donations to our programs are 100% tax deductible.

The legal name of our charity is T.E.N. Charities so that is the name you will see on your receipt.
Every dollar donated to this campaign will go directly to programs for
survivors, helping women and children get free and remain free from slavery with education and empowerment programs.
Not only will all your donations go to programs (our overhead is funded separately) but we are committed to stretching every dollar of impact from your donations.  We keep our staff small, don't waste money on anything fancy, recycle every box, and keep overhead costs and salaries to an absolute minimum. We are committed to using every penny to preventing slavery and helping survivors.

Our Three Funding Priorities:

Survivor Training and Employment.  Support or training and jobs programs, especially our jewelry program that provides tools, six months of metalsmith training and full employment in a high value profession for the survivors.  You can follow the development of this program and hear from the trainers and the survivors in our blog From Dust To Dazzle.

Free Forever Campaign. Made by Survivors' newest project is to build a shelter for 125 survivors, along with a training and employment center for 200 survivors, in partnership with Womens Interlink Foundation. The employment center will train, employ and place in outside jobs hundreds of survivors and high risk women in the Darjeeling region of India.

Our goal for this project is to give people in this region the tools to remain Free Forever from slavery and exploitation.  The struggle for freedom does not end at the moment at rescue.  Because many survivors were trafficked due to extreme poverty, lack of economic alternatives, and lack of education, they - and their children - are vulnerable to being trafficked again if these issues are not addressed.

The cost of building the shelter and first year operations of the employment center will be about $110,000. Made by Survivors' commitment is to raise $30,000 by Dec. 31st 2011, to cover half of the first phase of construction, with the rest contributed by our partner agency, WIF, the government of W. Bengal, and corporate and foundation partners.

Education.  We currently send 180 survivors and children of slavery survivors to school. Some of the cost is covered by sponsors but we also use money from general donations for this important purpose. Education is a guaranteed path out of slavery and exploitation.
